Welcome to our wedding website. Below is everything you need to know.
Five practical pages, in the order most people need them.
Almost everything happens under one roof at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel, so once you have arrived you do not need to organise any travel of your own.
International guests may find it best to arrive on Friday, July 9th, the day before the wedding events begin. The events will officially end on July 11th after the reception.
We'd love for you to join us for Brunch on July 12th, but it is entirely optional. No pressure at all.
We have a block of rooms at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel, where our guests can combat jet-lag, relax and enjoy the mountain views from the moment they arrive.
Three of the events have South Asian names. Here is what happens at each.
Exact times will be added here once the venues confirm them. Dress code for each event →
Almost everyone flying in will land in Vancouver first. From there it is either a short flight to Kamloops or a very good drive, then about 45 minutes up the mountain to Sun Peaks. Some guests may find it easier to fly via Calgary instead, which is a 45-minute flight to Kamloops.
For international guests flying into Canada, you may need to apply for an eTA. This is travel visa which takes about 5 mins to apply for and a day or two to be approved for.
The quickest way in. Flights are around 250 CAD, roughly 125 GBP. Kamloops Airport is about 45 minutes by road from Sun Peaks.
The aircraft are small and the schedule is thin, so book as soon as you have your long-haul flights.
The drive through the Coastal Mountains from Vancouver to Kamloops is stunning, and the last stretch climbs up to Sun Peaks. Allow about five hours in all. Having a car may be an asset if you want to enjoy BC afterwards.
If you would rather share the drive than do it alone, we will be putting people in touch. Carpooling →
The Sun Peaks Grand Hotel is both your accommodation and the venue for the ceremony, sangeet and reception, so you will not have to organise any travel between events.
There will be a block of rooms at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel for our guests, at a discounted rate. There are also plenty of other hotels and chalets to rent in Sun Peaks if you would rather stay elsewhere.
Your hotel, in the village at the foot of the mountain, so you can combat jet lag, relax and enjoy the views from the moment you arrive.
We will have a discounted rate for our guests. Booking details will be posted here, and sent with your invitation.
Sunday happens in the same hotel: the ceremony on the Grand Terrace, then the sangeet and reception in the Grand Ballroom. The venue for Saturday's Mehndi and Haldi is still to be confirmed.
No need for a taxi, a designated driver or a plan.
The village is small and car-free, so almost everything is a short walk from the Grand. Airbnb is also a good place to look, especially for full house rentals. Prices are pretty good too, because July is off-season here, but we still recommend booking as soon as you can.
Nothing matches. Try a different price or type.
Prices and walking times are rough guides. For condos and chalets, most units are booked through the resort or local rental agencies.
In the coming months, we will start organising carpooling groups for international guests not only to get to Sun Peaks if you are planning to drive.
We think a car is a good idea, even if you fly into Kamloops Airport. If you would rather not rent one, let Hajira or Nikhil know. We will be organising carpooling groups, or we can give you a lift.
The WhatsApp links will be added to this page and sent round once we know roughly who is driving. Nothing to do yet.
You will not need a lift. The ceremony, sangeet and reception are all at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel.
Three events, two dress codes. Wear what you feel best in. Indian, Pakistani or Western are all equally at home.
If you would like to wear traditional Indian / Pakistani attire, but do not have, please contact Nikhil or Hajira and we can set you up.
A few looks from previous family weddings, for reference.
Nothing formal. Bright and comfortable. There will be turmeric and colour involved, so pick something you do not mind marking.
The dressiest moment of the three days. It is warm on the Terrace by day and cool once the sun goes down, so bring a wrap or jacket for later.
There will be dancing. Evenings in the mountains are cool, so bring a layer. Shoes you can stand up in for several hours are the only real requirement.
Monday's leaving brunch has no dress code at all. Come as you are.
Tell us which days you can make and we will hold you a room in the block. Anything you are unsure of, leave blank.
